Our Shavuos Tradition

As is our minhag, we don’t actually serve a full dairy meal. Instead, we do a beautiful dairy kiddush before the first day meal. Over the years, this has evolved quite a bit.

There was a time when I went all out, an over-the-top dairy spread with everything from spinach mushroom quiche to cheese rugelach and pasta salads… followed by a full three-course Yom Tov meal. It was a lot. Like, truly excessive.

Since then, I’ve scaled things back in a way that feels much more manageable (and enjoyable). I still love putting together a generous, delicious dairy kiddush, but for the main meal, I keep things simpler; skipping the first course and going straight to the main.

Why Shavuos Feels Easier

Out of all the Yamim Tovim, Shavuos tends to feel lighter and more relaxed for me. The meals are generally less heavy, and it doesn’t come with the same pressure as other busy seasons (looking at you, back-to-school chaos!).

It’s a Yom Tov that lends itself to simplicity, without sacrificing anything special.

Why I Made this Shavuos 2026 Menu Template

I almost didn’t put together a menu template this year. I thought, “Does anyone even need it?” But then I remembered… you do!  And honestly, so do I.

There’s something about seeing it all laid out that makes the entire Yom Tov feel more doable. And I know I’m not the only one who relies on that.

Even though the templates are specific to those years, there are always plenty of ideas, tips, and “golden nuggets” you can carry over year after year.

Happy planning 🤍
