Stumped on Nine Days suppers? Not sure where to start? Here’s a recipe roundup with a full week’s worth of meat-free dinner ideas!
Every year, people prepare for the Nine Days like the apocalypse is coming. I mean, I hope and pray that we should not have to mourn this year during the Nine Days because Mashiach has come, but if that’s not the case, having to serve meatless meals for a week is not the end of the world!Â
That being said, for those who don’t eat dairy often, I can imagine how challenging this week can be (and this year it is a full week at once). As much as I love a good dairy supper, I also know it’s not nearly as filling as a meat protein and some satisfying sides (or maybe it’s just psychological!). In any case, I try very hard to make good hearty, solid, simple suppers during the Nine Days that keep everyone satisfied without being too much work (now is not the time to go all fancy — I save that for Shavuos).
I created a recipe roundup in 2023, which you can get lots of ideas from. You may see some repeats on this page, since like I said, I stick to basics and keep it simple, but there are some new ones too.
Here is my Nine Days menu for this year in a convenient, clickable roundup:
SUNDAY:
Broccoli, Spinach and Cheese Stuffed Twice-Baked Potatoes
Baked potato skins loaded with cheesy goodness and baked again — a perfect easy dairy dish!
This pasta with pesto cream sauce combines a classic white sauce with a vibrant garlic-basil pesto for a memorable dairy dish that takes creamy pasta to new levels!
No one will believe that this no-knead whole-wheat bread was so easy to make. It takes just minutes to put together and while the rising time is longer than regular bread, the results are amazing!
